Three Powerful Ways You Can Pray with Catholic Radio

Written by on September 10, 2024

There are hundreds of Catholic radio stations across the country, each with its own unique schedule and website. However, you will find some commonalities in the programming, no matter which station you listen to. Here are three powerful ways you can pray with Catholic radio:

1. Pray the Holy Mass with Catholic Radio

Of all the prayers and devotions in the Catholic Church, the Mass is the greatest of them all. It is the re-presentation of Jesus’ sacrifice for all humanity on Calvary.

The Liturgy of the Word is the revelation of God’s great love for all people. Jesus, the Word made flesh, God and man, is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy.

In the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the priest, “in persona Christi”, or “in the person of Christ”, offers the Mass to God. The faithful witness the sacrifice of Jesus when He gave His Body and Blood for all on the Cross. The Mass is Jesus’ offering in a nonviolent and unbloody manner, hidden under the appearance of bread and wine.

Listening to the Mass, even if alone, is efficacious. However, when you pray the Mass on Catholic radio, you are joining together with all other listeners and even those who are present at that Mass in person. Praying together fulfills the prayer of Jesus in John 17:22-23:

The glory which You have given Me I also have given to them, so that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and You loved them, just as You loved Me.

Jesus desires all to pray together in unity and community.

2. Catholic Radio Invites All to Pray the Rosary

Sadly, there are many Catholics and non-Catholics alike who think the rosary is simply a bunch of Our Fathers and Hail Marys. However, the rosary is a tremendous scripture-based prayer.

The rosary is multi-faceted:

  • Holding the rosary and moving along the beads with each prayer is a tangible way to enter into the rhythm of the prayer.

  • Praying the Hail Mary, which originated in scripture, is an effective way to ask for our Blessed Mother’s intercession. She was, after all, the first disciple of Jesus.

  • Meditating on the mysteries of the rosary (Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, Glorious) lead one through the life of Christ and the establishment of His Church.

Praying the rosary daily has led many to deeper relationship with God. It also calls to mind the words of Jesus:

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. (Matt 18:20)

3. Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet with Catholic Radio Saves Souls

A beautiful extension to praying the Holy Mass and rosary is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. This devotion:

  • Is prayed using the beads of the rosary

  • Offers the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity to God, the Father, in a manner similar to a spiritual communion

  • Makes reparation for sin and is a means of intercession for the salvation of souls.

In the same spirit of Matthew 18:20 (mentioned above), it is good to join together in prayer.

Whereas the rosary meditates on the life of Jesus and invites humanity to journey alongside Him, the Divine Mercy Chaplet focuses on what emanates from the heart of Jesus: Love and Mercy.
