5 Ways Catholic Radio Can Help You Become a Saint

Written by on December 23, 2025

The word ‘‘saint’’ is derived from the Latin ‘‘sanctus,’’ meaning ‘‘holy one.’’ In Greek, ‘‘hagios’’ means ‘‘sanctified’’ or ‘‘set apart.’’ All baptized Catholics are called to be set apart, sanctified, and holy—a call we are reminded of each day through Catholic Radio. All baptized Catholics are called to be saints.

In the Catholic Church, Mary is honored, not worshipped. Similarly, regarding canonized Saints recognized by the Church, the faithful may venerate (but never worship) them.

How does someone live as a saint (lowercase “s”) or become a canonized Saint? The process is the same:

Becoming a saint is simple. But it is not easy.

 1. Catholic Radio Provides Mass and Devotions to Help You Become a Saint

Prayer is communication with God. It is:

  • Praise and adoration

  • Confession and reparation

  • Thanksgiving and gratitude

  • Intercession and petition

Every day on Catholic radio you can pray the Mass as well as rosary and the Divine Mercy chaplet. Other prayers and devotions are sprinkled in between programs. Just by listening you will be guided to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thes 5:17) to stay connected to God.

 2. Learn and Follow the Teachings of the Catholic Church on Catholic Radio

Each program on Catholic radio focuses on spreading the Good News of the Gospel and is faithful to the teachings of the magisterium. Not only will you learn about your faith, but you can also be assured that you will not be led astray.

When you learn more about Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, a hunger will develop to become closer to God. You will see relevance in the Bible to your particular circumstances. You will understand and appreciate the beauty of Sacred Tradition and perhaps even want to study the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

 3. Spiritual Mentors on Catholic Radio Can Inspire Conversion to Help You Become a Saint

Programs on Catholic radio are hosted by priests, popular theologians, authors, and speakers. No matter if you have inspiring Catholics in your parish or diocese or not, Catholic radio can supplement your circle of spiritual mentors.

Recall that in Acts 8:26-40, the apostle Philip met an Ethiopian eunuch who was reading the prophet Isaiah and didn’t grasp the full meaning. When Philip explained the scripture to him, a fire was lit in his soul and he asked to be baptized.

The same is true for us today. We need people in our Catholic circle to help break open the Word of God and help us to understand. We are meant to be in community with each other, to learn, and then to carry that message to others. Our own continual conversion fuels that mission.

4. Catholic Radio Promotes Sacramental Living Which Makes Saints

Every day we need food and water. We keep our clothes and bodies clean. This idea of nourishment and cleanliness carries over to the Catholic sacramental life.

It is the Body and Blood of Jesus in the Eucharist that nourishes and sustains us in daily life whether joyful or full of trials.

It is in going to confession and having our sins forgiven and souls washed clean because of the Blood of Jesus that we can persevere to fight spiritual battles.

Catholic radio hosts and guests not only teach and speak about the importance of the Eucharist and confession, they promote a deeper understanding of living our Baptismal promises and our vocations.

 5. Become a Saint by Detaching from the World to Stay Focused on Christ with Catholic Radio

It’s not an exaggeration to say that everyone suffers from distraction. Family. Home. Work. Volunteering. Everyone has commitments and challenges. Even our own thoughts can sidetrack us from accomplishing what we want or need to do.

At home or in the car, Catholic radio can be a respite from busyness or even a remedy for boredom. Programs that center on Christ can help wisk away intrusive thoughts and worries. They can help to refocus on the good things God provides.

To become a saint, we need to detach from what the world offers and remember that earth is not our home. Our lives here are at most like a short stay at a hotel. Our real destination is heaven and it’s forever. Does your schedule reflect that reality? Catholic radio can help you make a shift.
