Events for Priests

Catholic Radio Network is proud to host annual events that celebrate, honor, and support our priests and seminarians. These gatherings bring together the faithful and their clergy in joyful, family-friendly settings while raising funds to strengthen vocations and promote the mission of the Church.

Two cornerstone traditions are Pitching for Priests and Golf for Priests (Priest & Seminarian Appreciation Day). Pitching for Priests is a lively, crowd-drawing baseball matchup where Kansas and Missouri fans cheer on their priests from the stands—all while supporting seminarians through diocesan vocations offices. Golf for Priests offers a day of fellowship and relaxation, complete with golf, special activities, and community meals, honoring the dedicated men who serve our Church.

Beyond fun and fellowship, these events provide meaningful opportunities for laypeople to connect personally with priests, bishops, and seminarians. Whether it’s cheering at the ballpark, joining a foursome on the green, or participating in the many activities that surround each event, attendees walk away with deeper bonds to their faith and a shared commitment to encouraging future vocations.

Pitching for Priests

Pitching for Priests is an annual, spirited charity event presented by the Catholic Radio Network. In its 12th year, this unforgettable gathering brought together thousands of baseball fans and supporters—drawing a record 4,225 attendees at the latest event—making it the highest-attended edition in the event’s history.

The event eschews traditional ticket sales—no ticket is required to attend—but warmly encourages freewill donations, which are directed to support seminarians through the respective diocesan vocations offices. A lighthearted competition adds extra community engagement: fans vote for either Kansas or Missouri, and in the most recent event, Kansas received 868 votes, while Missouri garnered 749 votes.

Beyond the baseball-themed fun, the event fosters meaningful connections with clergy. Attendees can mingle with priests, bishops, and archbishops—such as Archbishop McKnight and Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Naumann—view delightful candid moments like priests enjoying baseball snacks, and participate in photo opportunities that capture the event’s joyful, communal spirit.

Golf for Priests

Golf for Priests—also known as the Priest & Seminarian Appreciation Day (PASAD)—is an uplifting annual gathering hosted by the Catholic Radio Network. Held at the scenic Ridge at Castle Pines North in Colorado, this special event is designed to honor and offer fellowship to Catholic priests, seminarians, and deacons, providing them an unforgettable day filled with fun, relaxation, and community spirit. Participation in the main golf outing is entirely free for priests and seminarians, while deacons enjoy a substantially reduced rate.

More than just a golf tournament, the event features a diverse array of activities—ensuring there’s something appealing for every participant. Options include playing 18 holes at one of Colorado’s top-rated courses, embarking on a guided tour of History Colorado and Pete’s Cars, enjoying pickleball sessions, going on a thrilling zipline adventure, or simply relaxing with card and board games or cornhole. A silent auction, delicious lunch, drinks, and a relaxed awards gathering round out the full-day experience.

Supported by the generous Colorado faith community and sponsors, this beloved tradition not only offers a rejuvenating day out but also gifts priests and final-year seminarians a new suit—recognizing their dedicated service both spiritually and sartorially.
