7 Catholic Radio Programs That Help Relationships
Written by catholicradio on June 13, 2025
Catholic radio programs share the fullness of the Catholic faith with people from all walks of life. This includes:
- Cradle Catholics (those raised Catholic from birth)
- Converts (non-Catholic, non-Christian, or of no religious affiliation)
- Reverts (those at least baptized Catholic who left the Catholic Church for a time and have returned)
Although the destination for everyone is the same (heaven!) each person’s journey is unique. Catholic radio program hosts seek to meet everyone’s needs. This includes looking at relationships through a distinctly Catholic lens.
Here are seven Catholic radio programs that can help improve challenging relationships:
1. The Doctor Is In
Personal problems. Marriage. Family. These are the specialties of Dr. Ray Guarendi. As a practicing clinical psychologist and the father of ten adopted children, he’s seen and heard it all.
Dr. Ray is the author of 12 books and advocates for a commonsense approach to the challenges of parenting.
During his radio program he takes calls, responds to email questions, and revisits previous topics to examine them more deeply.
Dr. Ray’s humor, experience, and insight make for entertaining and informative listening.
2. More 2 Life
Need ideas for navigating family life? This Catholic radio program features Dr. Gregory Popcak and his wife, Lisa. The mission of their call-in program is to encourage listeners to have the life they were meant to live.
Weaving together the Catholic faith and principles of psychological counseling, Dr. Gregory and Lisa’s previous topics include:
- Reclaiming your God-given dignity when being treated poorly
- Strategies for frustrations in your nuclear family
- How to calm your temper at home and work
- Effectively handling anxiety and worry
- Guidance for raising kids who are defiant or have meltdowns
3. Take 2
When you listen to this daily program, you’ll feel like you’re meeting with friends. Jerry Usher and Debbie Georgianni examine cultural, personal, and spiritual issues of the day to connect with listeners.
Sometimes in difficult relationships, our own worth or God’s plan for us is called into question. Jerry and Debbie’s Catholic Radio program, Take 2, encourages listeners to remember they are beloved by God.
4. The Reason for Our Hope
It is easy to become discouraged when facing challenges in relationships and life. If you can relate, this Catholic radio program is the antidote.
Fr. Larry Richards is an unforgettable priest who is direct in his message. His experience includes high school chaplain, counselor, and inner-city pastor.
As an author, evangelist, retreat master, and speaker, recurring themes of this candid and enthusiastic priest include:
- True manhood, personal conversion and living as a beloved son of God
- Surrendering to God by releasing all that stands in the way in this material life
- Courageously addressing sin in one’s life and making a good confession.
Listen to this program and remember why and in what ways Jesus is the reason for our hope!
5. The Rosary Is a Place
All relationships improve when people spend time together. Improving your relationship with the Holy Trinity and our Blessed Mother follows this principle.
Our weekend Catholic radio programming includes this lovely recording. The mysteries of the rosary are prayed contemplatively by Fr. Benedict Groeschel with a musical background and singing by Simonetta.
The meditations will help deepen your recitation rather than mindlessly racing through the decades. Also, during those times when you are experiencing a difficulty, this program can carry you in your prayer time.
6. Beyond Damascus
The Great Commission given to all Christians in Matthew 28: 16-20 is make disciples. This program addresses that charge.
Damascus is a missionary movement aimed at bringing revival through the Holy Spirit in the American Catholic Church.
Program hosts Dan, Brad, and Aaron address relationships through the lens of evangelization. Here is a sample of past questions addressed:
- How do I love a person as they are, while having greater hopes for their conversion?
- What if I feel I’m not seeing any “results” from my efforts to evangelize?
- Am I truly equipped to be doing this?
Even if you aren’t called to go out into the streets to make disciples, Jesus’ command includes you: bloom where you are planted, as the saying goes. The Holy Spirit can use this program to equip you.
7. The Spirit World
What is your relationship with your guardian angel? Are you unwittingly forming a bond or relationship with the rebellious spirits that opposed God?
These questions and more are addressed by Religious Demonologist, Adam Blai, and Angel Specialist, Debbie Georgianni, in this weekend program.
The physical and spiritual worlds do interact, but we should not become too curious about the Evil One and his followers. Instead, our focus needs to be on the power of Jesus and the sacraments, and the intercession of the Blessed Mother and saints in heaven.
Ephesians 6: 10-18 states we are not fighting flesh and blood, but those in the spiritual realm.
Evil spirits can impact our thoughts because Satan is the adversary who prowls like a lion (1 Peter 5:8).
They can impact relationships because their goal is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10): us, our families, our relationships.
This program will teach you to be discerning and recognize the spirit world from a Catholic perspective.
